What was the Cenozoic era?
The Cenozoic era happened about 65 million years ago. This is the time humans started to show up. The Cenozoic era was divided into three periods Paleogene, Neogene, and Quaternary period. Cenozoic means “New Life” in Greek roots. Modern birds, insects, and plants started to develop during this time.
How did the plates move?
The plates caused Huge layers of crust to uplift causing rocky mountains. The mountains were filled with sediment from other eroded mountains. An oceanic plate was subducted under the Western coast of North American. Volcanic action happened around the Cascade mountains. This created the San Andreas fault.
